Coming up with a project idea can be tough, you might not have any ideas or are just feeling tired of the same thing. By the end of this post you'll have an awesome project idea 🎸🀘 that you can get started on.

Note: The trick won't work if you (a) don't pay attention, (b) don't want to work on a project, or (c) are doing something.

Step 0

Turn off your computer (maybe memorize this post first) and go somewhere quiet with only you, a pen, and a piece of paper. You'll spend the next 20 minutes here using your brain 🧠.

Step 1

Yes, I'm serious. Turn off your computer and go somewhere quiet.*
*with a pen and piece of paper

Step 2

Think about a problem you had recently. It can be as bizarre or boring as you like. Anything from sitting on Twitter too long to forgetting to buy more toilet paper.

Once you have a problem, think about how you can solve it. There are infinite ways to solve a single problem from mobile apps to 10 gigantic rockets, just make sure your problem is in reach and is solvable.

Step 3

Now on your piece of paper write down ~100 words explain your idea, you might want to cover what your problem is, how you want to fix it, and how it will work.

You'll use this to bump your idea off a friend and see what they think.

Step 4

Ok, now pick up your phone, text a friend, and ask them what they think of your idea. Send them a picture of your piece of paper and ask them for an honest opinion of your idea and how you can make it better.

If they say "It's terrible and awful, nobody will ever love you. πŸ˜πŸ’”", you might want to go back to step 3 and come up with another problem and solution or find a new friend.

Step 5 aka The End

There you have it. The perfect idea. Now get to work and build out your idea.
Make sure to post progress updates on Twitter as you work to keep yourself motivated!
